On our glacier lagoon day tour we’ll go for a drive along the south coast of Iceland heading to second Europe’s largest glacier – Vatnajokull. Vatnajokull is the largest ice cap in Iceland, covering more than 8 percent of the country.
The fist stop of our trip is Skaftafell National Park. We will have small hiking here. Distance: 3.7 km (round-trip). Walking time: 1 - 1.5 hrs. Then we will move to Svartifoss waterfall. The name of the waterfall means "dark waterfall" because of the dark basalt columns surrounding it.
After we will drive to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon where we will enjoy the view of the big floating icebergs and the huge glacier. Optional you can do exciting boat trip in the amphibian boat. During the trip you sail among the blue icebergs in the picturesque scenery of Jökulsárlón.
In the evening we will meet the sunset on the magnificent Diamond beach. The real name of Diamond Beach is Breiðamerkursandur, which translates to “Broad Plain Sand”. But its jewel-like nickname comes from the chunks of ice that decorate the beach all year long. We will watch how the rays of the sun shimmer in small ice.
